The IDA provides a number of courses to cater for the needs of adults (brothers only) in full time work, who are keen to enhance their Islamic education. The courses IDA provide are:
Choice of Courses
There are two different Hifz (memorisation of the Qur’ān) courses available for adults:
Hifz Course
This course has been designed for those enthusiastic to memorise the Qur’ān but are constrained with time commitment. The students have the option of agreeing a time of their choice on a weekly basis with their teacher in order to balance their learning with other commitments. Time slots are available from 7am to 10pm seven days a week to suit one’s availability.
Revision of Hifz
This facility has been made available to those wanting to keep to memory and refresh what they have memorised from the Glorious Qur’ān. This is a much needed facility and an opportunity for all those who have committed the Qur’ān to memory to benefit from it. Again full flexible timings are available from 7am to 10pm seven days a week to suit ones availability.
This course has been formulated over three levels:
Level 1 (Basic) is for those who have not had the opportunity to learn how to recite the Qur’ān in their childhood days. This level focuses on familiarity with alphabets and correct pronunciation of letters.
Level 2 (Intermediate) comprises of basic Tajwīd rules and application of these rules when commencing the recitation of Qur’ān.
Level 3 (Advanced) builds on Level 2 knowledge aimed at perfection of recitation via the full application of all the rules as well as memorisation of a few small chapters.
This Course runs once a week.
This is a two year course which is split into four units of 15 weeks. The Course involves a more detailed study in Hadīth, Tafsīr, Fiqh and Sīrah. A number of chapters related to various aspects of a person’s life are taught from Ma’ārif-ul-Hadīth with detailed commentary. Selected Chapters of the Qur’ān are taught with detailed commentary giving an insight to various important topics. The classical book of Hanafī Fiqh, Nūr-ul-Īdāh is used as primary text to give an insight to basic every day rulings related to a person’s cleanliness, Salaah etc. The course is conducted in the English language which runs two days a week comprising of four lessons. The atmosphere is kept informal yet the elementary requisites of traditional Islamic learning and teaching is emphasised.
