'Crossing Divides' Seminar
The mission of the Islamic Da‘wah Academy has always been to facilitate a greater understanding and awareness of the teachings of Islam. The IDA has, over the years, become well known for its work within the Muslim community and in particular, among the Muslim youth. However, during this time, the IDA has also operated a small but focused department providing education and information about Islam to all members of the wider community in which we live.
As an expansion of this department, the IDA inaugurated an annual ‘Crossing Divides’ seminar in 2006. The rationale behind this event is to facilitate wider interaction and foster greater understanding between the various sectors of our community. People from various professions have attended the event, including the medical and legal sectors, the construction industry and the Leicestershire constabulary.
The aim of this seminar is to provide an introduction to the work of the IDA as well as to provide an overview of the ethical principles upon which the IDA functions. The basic beliefs and practices of Islam are also highlighted as part of the evening’s presentations.
