How to Perform Ziyaarah
This brief but comprehensive book is presented to outline the rituals of Ziyaarah (visiting the Noble Prophet's Masjid and his grave in Madeenah Munawwarah).
The Propet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "Verily, he who performed Hajj and refrained from visiting me, has rendered me an injustice."
The opportunity to visit the Noble Prophet's Masjid and his grave is indeed among the greatest blessings and fortunes a Muslim can receive. It is also a very desirable form of Ibaadah (Worship), a very successful way of attaining spiritual elevation and an encouraging reason for an acceptable intercession. In view of Rasoolullah's (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) countless favours on the Ummah and the hopes that are expected from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam after death, it is indeed unfortunate if Ziyaarah is not made, in spite of having the means. To miss the great honour of Ziyaarah and to offer excuses is being neglectful and careless.
The author has included all the information necessary for Ziyaarah, explaining its method and its proper sequence, in plain simple English with diagrams and sketches where appropriate.
Insha'allah, you will find in it answers to many of your questions.
Salat and Salam

Our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam is the most beloved to Allah and the most superior of all the Prophets. It is for this reason that Allah has stated:
Verily, Allah and His Angels send salat on the Prophet: O Believers, send salat (Allah's Blessings) on him and salam (greetings). (33:56)
What greater honour can there be for Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam than that the Believers join with Allah and His angels in this blessed act of salat and salam.
The countless favours of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam upon his Ummah and his affection and love for them demand that they send salat and salam upon him abudantly, asking Allah to honour His beloved Rasool sallallahu alayhi wasallam with His choicest mercies and greetings forever.
In this booklet we intend to reproduce (from Shaykhul Hadeeth Muhammed Zakaryya's Virtues of Salat alan Nabee) forty salaat and salaam which Shaykh Ashraf Ali Thanwi has obtained from authentic sources of hadeeth. Twenty-five deal with salaat, and fifteen refer to salam, thus making it a collection of forty ahaadeeth.
Friendship and our Young Generation

Friendship ... All the friendships and relationships established for the sake of the world are of no avail. Not only are they a waste of time, but on the day of Qiyamah, they will be a means of destruction. The Glorious Qur'an announces: 'All friends on the day of Qiyamah will be enemies of one another...' Here the Qur'an has not said that friends will not benefit each other on the day of Qiyamah, that they will be separated and taken far from each other; the Qur'an has said that on the day of Qiyamah friends who are not God-fearing will be the enemies of each other. This enmity will be of such a degree that each will try to take the other with him to Hell.
... Our Young Generation. In this day and age, the friend is most precious and dear. The friend is more valuable than parents, more valuable than a brother, more valuable than a sister. We sacrifice everything for our friend - 'No, He is my friend.' But go and sit in prison for a while and see how many friends come to visit you. After being sentenced to jail, the convicted one clings to his parents with wails and sobs saying: 'Now I realise I haven't got any friends. After I come out you will see a lot of change in my life. Now I know only my parents are my friends. Now I have realised...'
Gambling and its Various Forms

Allah ta'aalaa has blessed us with innumerous gifts and favours, one of which is wealth. The Ahaadeeth of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam encourage a Muslim to earn this favour of wealth through Halaal (Lawful) means and spend it in ways that bring the Pleasure of Allah. If Halaal wealth is a source of blessings, mercy, comfort, peace and tranquillity, then Haraam (Unlawful) wealth will bring calamity, misfortune and harm from all directions.
Wealth acquired through gambling is unlawful and the Qur'aan and Ahaadeeth have condemned the act of gambling. It brings loss, not only in the life hereafter, but also in this very world. It is explicitly clear from the verses of the Qur'aan and the Ahaadeeth of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam that:
1. Gambling is a major sin 2. All forms of gambling are prohibited 3. The harms of gambling are far greater than its paltry benefits 4. It is from Shaytaan's work 5. It creates hatred and enmity amongst gamblers 6. It prevents the gambler from the remembrance of Allah and Salaah 7. Success lies in abstaining from this evil
Importance of Salat and its
Influence
on
Human Life

The salvation of humanity lies in Allah's final message to all mankind, revealed to His last Prophet Muhammed sallallahu alayhi wasallam over 1400 years ago. It is a complete code of life for all human beings and it is preserved in it's entirety till the day of Judgement. Salaat is an integral part of this code and has been most empathetically ordained in this noble Book in numerous places. It is one the most glorious and fundamental principles of Islam without which it is not possible for man to establish the right relationship with his Creator and Benefactor.
This small booklet endeavours to explain the importance of this principle. It attempts to clarify the fact that through Salat, man can answer the Call of the Creator of the universe who wants to bestow His Bounties on him. It is through Salat that man realises that Allah is Unique and Alone in His Glory and He Alone deserves that man should bow to Him in gratitude and humility. It is through Salat that man can recognise Allah, who is the Creator and Sovereign Lord of the universe and is his real and only Benefactor and Sustainer.
Whoever reads this booklet will realise that Salat is the greatest and the most glorious of all the Bounties of Allah that he has bestowed on mankind because it establishes the the true bond between the Creator and His Creatures.
