A short gathering is held in English on Tuesday evenings. Aimed primarily at a young audience, relevant topics are discussed, with a view to increase Islamic awareness and social responsibility.
This gathering focuses on spiritual rectification and is extremely popular, attracting brothers from many places outside Leicester. The most respected Shaykh imparts his enlightening discourses in the Urdu language, although a simultaneous English translation enables a wider audience to benefit.
This gathering is held on the first Saturday of each month. Many people from all over the country attend for the purpose of self-rectification and spiritual development. Time is allocated for the completion of qadhā salāh, recitation of the Glorious Qur'ān, dhikr and learning masā'il pertaining to daily needs. The most respected Shaykh Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullāh also addresses the gathering with his words of wisdom.
In its effort to serve the needs of the wider Muslims community, the IDA organises numerous bimonthly programmes throughout the country. Qualified 'ulamā from the IDA address these gatherings.
The Annual Youth Conference was initiated to help spread the teachings of Islam on a national scale. The conference has grown from strength to strength, attracting people from all over the UK. Lectures focus on the need to become better Muslims and therefore better citizens and members of society.
Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage, is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is a duty which many Muslims only get the opportunity to fulfil once in a lifetime. Thus, many prospective pilgrims are anxious that this important worship be completed properly. To meet these concerns, the IDA annually coordinates a comprehensive guidance course for intending pilgrims prior to the Hajj season. The most respected Shaykh has been conducting this popular course since it was initiated in 1995.
The five day course (delivered in Urdu with a simultaneous English translation) discusses the essential rites of Hajj and is accompanied by a daily question and answer session. A two day abridged version of the course in English is also organised every year.
The "How To Perform" series of booklets are a useful compliment to the course and detail the main content of the lecture material in a simple, easy to read format. This gathering takes place on the first Saturday of the month. Many local sisters benefit from this gathering which includes talks delivered in both English and Urdu. The most respected Shaykh often enlightens the gathering with his presence.
This gathering has proved to be a very beneficial service attracting a large number of sisters. All lectures are imparted in English and the lecture series is designed to help sisters attain a better understanding of Islam.
In conjunction with its Annual Youth Conference for brothers, the IDA holds an annual gathering for sisters.
Sisters who are unable to attend any of these programmes can either listen live or download previous programmes from this website.
The IDA hosts a number of programmes specifically aimed at the younger generation, ranging from advice and guidance to sporting activities and informal talks.
The IDA’s weekly Kids' Club has gained a regular audience and popularity. Designed to cater for children of primary school age, the weekly programme aims to help children grow into responsible and considerate Muslim youth. The programme, delivered by young 'ulamā (and 'ālimāt for the young girls), takes place on Saturday afternoons and consists of short talks, stories, quizzes and various other activities including sports. The talks cover a range of topics e.g. importance of keeping good company, drug prevention, development of moral character, respect for parents, teachers and neighbours, etc.
The Boy's session takes place from 11am to 12.30pm and the Girl's session takes place from 12.45pm to 2.15pm.
The IDA’s Fatāwā department is staffed by qualified muftīs proficient in English, Urdu and Gujarati. The department provides solutions based on Islamic law and deals with queries related to all aspects of Fiqh, including matrimonial and inheritance issues. Queries are taken by letter or by telephone. All correspondence is held in strict confidence.
